I am embarking on a quest, the 30 Day Drawing Challenge!!!!!! This is something I was lucky enough to stumble upon, literally, and I have decided that I am going to do it dang it!!
Each day with the drawing challenge you are asked to draw something different, the initial drawing is to draw yourself.
I am an art student so drawing a picture of myself should be no problem, but in fact it is quite intimidating. This past semester I was in a painting class where our final project was to do a self portrait in the style of a famous artist, I chose Andy Warhol. This was a daunting assignment. I got a little into the project and decided that I was going to build my own canvas. I started out thinking maybe just a 2ftX2ft would do the job, but a week later I ended up with a 4ftX4ft canvas, that is 16 square feet of canvas! And let me give a word of advise to all of you, do not under any circumstances buy cheap gesso, it is not worth it! The cheap crap will just crack on you and you will have to spend hours sanding and re-gessoing and sanding and re-gessoing, it just not worth the $10 you will save, for GOODNESS SAKES SPLURGE! Well, after spending hours making the canvas and then spending an even longer amount of time painting I ended up with this…
